Lighting Effects

Cross Lighting
Cross lighting is achieved by lighting a subject from two sides, which both highlights and softens the subject.
Water Feature Lighting
Lighting in or near water enhances the texture and movement and can create reflections.
Moonlighting
Moonlighting is created with tree mounted lights. Shadows from the leaves create dappled light on the ground below.
Shadowing
An oversized shadow of the subject can be projected onto a wall by placing the light source in front of it.
Wash & Grazing Lighting
Lighting a wall from a distance provides even light coverage (wall washing). Lighting a wall from a source close by emphasises its texture (grazing).
Silhouetting
Silhouetting creates a dark outline by lighting the surface behind the subject.
Down Lighting
Down lighting pools light from above onto a surface or feature, it has safety, security and aesthetic applications.
Reflections
Reflections are created by lighting from a distance across still water.
Spread Lighting
Glare free typically circular pools of light created by low level stem mounted shielded lights, ideal for drives and low level planting.
Uplighting Trees
Uplighting from a ground level light source creates a dramatic effect.
Step Lighting
Step lighting is welcoming and has obvious safety benefits.
Deck Lighting
Deck lighting can be used to define the edges of the decking area.
